INSTRUCTIONS
Exercise 1 - Audio Dubbing:
Students use the given video by lecturer (scene from Everything Everywhere All At Once) to voice audio dubbing, and put in the correct sound effect audios alongside the right ambiance audios.
Sync the required audios in Adobe Premiere Pro (speech dialogue and sound effects only: hard sound effects, ambient effects ).
Speech dialogue: record with phone
Sound effects: find online with given link or youtube
Audio track: 3 tracks for dialogue, one character, one track. 4 or more tracks for sound effects. 3 tracks for ambiance sounds. Edit the voice from female to male, or male to female by using pitch shifter in Premiere Pro.
Volume: Dialogue: between -6dB & -12dB. Ambiance: below -20dB. Hard sound: depends.
For the dialogue audio, I used my own voices for each character. I listened to the original video and mimic their dialogues and timing to get the perfect speech audios. For Evelyn, I kept the pitch in its original state. For Waymond, I used the 'Pitch Shifter' and Semi-toned it 2 tones down or lower than its original pitch. For Ms. Deirdre, I shifted the pitch 1 tone higher than its original pitch.

After I perfected the speech dialogues, I went to find the sound effects online. It took a while and more specific key words to get the right and perfect audio to match the scenes. Especially with the 'yanking metal pipe', it was difficult to find the perfect sound effect for it.
For each sound effects, the volume depends on every soundtrack. The impact audios, I make it the same as the dialogue audio or lower. For other sound effects I randomly adjust the dB until I feel it reaches the perfect volume.

As for the ambiance, in the beginning I did not know what kind of ambiance I should input as it was the scene was only in a janitor's closet. Then I tried to play around with other soundtracks, and in the end I found a nice ambiance music to add to the atmosphere and vibe of the first few scenes. Later I needed to add the office background noises to match with the video scenes. For the last scene, I wanted to add some suspense music to match with the situation of the scene, though I was encouraged not to add any music, so I cutoff the end and replaced it with some horror ambiance instead.

After everything was adjusted right, I added some sound effects and transition to the ambiance to make the audio fade in and fade out by using the 'Exponential Fade' tool.

FEEDBACK
Cut out the music, use more ambiance audios, and input an impact sound effect for the last shot. Other than that everything is good.

REFLECTION
For this project, it was a bit nerve wrecking in the beginning as I was comfortable nor had the courage to use my own voice for the video. Then the thoughts and embarrassment had slowly started to go away once I've done many trials to get the perfect audio speech. After syncing my voices to the video and listening to it, I was amused at how good it was. It kept me going to actually finish the project and putting the effort into making it good and pleasant for me. In the end, I could say this was a fun first project diving into video and sound production. I'm looking forward to having potential in becoming a film creator or mayhaps a voice actor hahaha.
