Project 2: A - (Video Shooting) & B - (Color Correction/Grading)

INTRUCTIONS



Description: This project aims to explore students to production shooting and editing environment. Project 2 consist of 2 x Shooting & Editing exercise (Shooting: Group; Editing: Individual)

Requirements: Students will practice shooting with DSLR or smartphone, online/offline editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. After Effects and Audition.

Submission: The finishing videos need to be exported, upload to Youtube/Google Drive. Links of the videos needs to be provided in eportfolio.

Learning Goals: Technical and digital media competencies - demonstrate creative use of software, and effective use of digital media skills to promote or communicate design concepts or solutions. Strategic communication competencies - conduct oral and verbal presentation to persuade and illustrate ideas and concepts in a multidisciplinary setting as a team or an individual.




Project 2A - Lalin Color Grading:

For the first step, I downloaded the footages and graphics that were provided and followed the original video's timeline and placed the clips in its correct place. Then I shortened the clip by cutting the unnecessary parts before aligning them next to each other. After that I edited the sound to be in the correct volume level.

After that comes the graphics that were provided, I followed the same steps with the original video and placed them accordingly, I used the notification sfx that was given for every graphics that were added.

I followed the tutorial on how to add in the fade in/out effect and input it on the clips.

Then lastly comes the color correction, I used the warm tone for almost every clips to make it consistent, and some cooler tones for the girl when she was in the bathroom setting.

For the first step in editing, I placed the clips in its correct order and edit its sounds to the right level before the next step.

Then after comes the color correction, I did the warm tones for some clips in lighter spaces, then cooler tones in darker spaces by adjusting the lumetri color section on basic color correction, creatives, and color wheels & match.

After that, I searched up free sounds to add in as ambiance and sfx and plug in to the sequence, adjusting its volume to the right level and went on with the adjusting the final position of the music and sfx with the video.

REFLECTION

For this project, it was the most fun I ever had for this semester. As a producer and an actor, leading the team was quite easy and peaceful, I was glad that they were collaborative enough and understand their roles and following through. As an actor on the other hand, kind of embarrassing to act in front of them along with my partner. Although we bonded and had fun together, the embarrassment was indeed greatly felt throughout the project. The day of the shooting, it taught me something about teamwork. I was glad that many understood their parts, and I was proud how well we work together as a team, that we could finish an entire shooting in 3 hours and in time. And I am very grateful for my teammates for this module. As for the editing, although I am still a beginner at premiere pro, I actually got the hang of it by the end, I love doing the color correction and editing the video process.
