Task 3: Type Exploration & Application
19.11.2025 - 16.12.2025 (Week 9 - Week 13)
My font is an experimentation on layered patterns, based on Javanese
batik patterns, and used as a carving typography on surfaces meant to
carve a deep and meaningful moment of heritage. The final font was not
able to be downloaded in FontLab as the glyphs were too complex and
caused complications and errors.

REFLECTION
Experience:
Throughout this semester, I can wholeheartedly say that this module was a blast of an experience. I honestly thought it was going to be quite difficult, a challenge; yes, but difficult; was a relieving no for me. It was fun, splendid even, especially the third task. Although there was some disappointments with not being able to download the font, overall it was worth to see the final outcome through the painful all-nighters and efforts I put into it. It was hectic and overwhelming in some parts, I hate to admit that. I guess that's the fun in it, bringing in the struggles to get a good result. I kinda wish we could do some other more stuff as well, but I would hate myself if I were to talk about that aloud in class. Overall this module was great and exciting, but I hope that I would not have to retake it and do it all over again.
Observation:
Looking back at my past work after the final task, including the previous typography module, I could say that I've improved in some areas, and I'm quite fond of that journey. I might even say that I'll miss this module... Maybe in the future soon I'll feel it. Putting that aside for now, the first few weeks of classes was nerve-wrecking, but as time went on, I got the hang of Mr. Vinod's antics and lectures. Makes me wonder about the funny guy underneath the strict guy. Seeing others work as well also inspired me, from the past students and from my classmates, it kind of feels welcoming in a way, their struggles and artworks really makes me push further to finish all of my tasks. So I have to give credits to them for the motivations.
Findings:
Aside from the typography aspect, this module has actually taught me a lot about introduction to branding and identity. The second task was actually the most fun and insightful task out of the three thanks to the collateral. Knowing the insights given from the graphic design students that most of their works were just advanced typography is also a closer look for me to know about that specialization. Typography as the overall aspect, is very squared, boxed, and ordered, is what I have a hard time with following throughout it, but giving some creativity to it can actually be a balance and versatility to work through the hard rule of it in a smooth manner. As a manner of fact, simplicity is not simple in typography, so I'm very much glad for my hard noggin for this experience to go smoothly.
